What bespoke eyewear means

Bespoke means one frame, made for one person. Not a stock design in a custom colour — a new shape, cut and finished by hand to fit your face and match how you want to look. Every bespoke frame we make starts from a blank sheet and ends inside our East London workshop.

Designed around your face

The frame is drawn around your features. Bridge, brow line, eye position, cheekbones and the way you carry weight on your nose all inform the design. If you have preferences from frames you already wear — or frames you have tried and rejected — we build those in from the start.

Face and temple measurements

We take the measurements that matter for a frame you will actually wear all day: temple width, temple length, bridge, pupillary distance and pantoscopic tilt. These become the coordinates the frame is cut against.

Acetate colours and materials

You choose the acetate together with the maker, from the sheets we hold in the workshop. Solids, tortoises, laminates, translucent layers — the sheet is chosen for how it will read on your face, not from a swatch card.

Design review and approval

Before any acetate is cut, we walk you through the technical drawing and confirm the shape, dimensions and details. Making only starts once the design is agreed.

Prescription lens options

Bespoke frames can be glazed with prescription lenses in our East London lens lab, including single vision, varifocal and specialist lenses. We can also make the frame demo-lensed if you will glaze it elsewhere.

Making inside the East London workshop

The frame is cut, shaped, heat formed, riveted and polished by hand at 455 Wick Lane. It is made by the same people you meet at the consultation.

Fitting and final collection

The last step is a fitting, in person where possible, so the frame sits exactly the way it should. We make final adjustments before you take it home.

Pricing

Bespoke frames start from £850. The final price depends on materials, design complexity and lens choice, and is agreed during the consultation before any making begins.

Bespoke compared with made to measure

Made to measure adjusts an existing frame pattern to your measurements — a faster route to a frame that fits. Bespoke starts from a blank sheet: a new shape drawn and cut only for you. Both are handmade at Eyewear Ltd; bespoke goes deeper.

Studio or online consultation

You can book in person at the East London studio or online. In person is best if you want to hold acetate samples and try shapes on. Online works well when travel is difficult — we send samples and photos and work from measurements taken carefully at home.

Estimated completion time

Every bespoke frame moves at its own pace. The estimated completion time is confirmed during your consultation, once the design and materials are agreed.
