Terms of Sale (Consumers)
Last updated: 11 July 2026 · Draft for solicitor review before full public launch
1. Who you are buying from
These terms apply to purchases made by consumers through itseyewear.com. Your contract of sale is with Eyewear Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 14918400), VAT no. GB 443823983, whose registered office and lab is at 455 Wick Lane, One Dye House, Unit 3b, London, E3 2TB.
Eyewear Ltd is the merchant of record for every order placed on the site, including frames from independent makers presented on our marketplace. The maker manufactures and, in most cases, ships the frame; Eyewear Ltd handles payment, customer service and any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
For prescription lens or glazing orders, the frame is routed to our London lab for glazing before dispatch to you. This adds working days to the total delivery time. See our Shipping & Delivery policy for indicative timeframes.
2. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate. Shipping is shown at checkout.
Payment is taken at the time of order by Stripe, which processes cards on our behalf. We do not store your full card details.
3. Orders and contract formation
Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you an order confirmation. We may decline or cancel an order — for example on a pricing error, lack of stock, an unclear prescription, or where we cannot safely fulfil it — and will refund any payment already taken.
4. Your 14-day right to cancel — and the important lens exemption
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel a standard, non-customised order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. To cancel, email start@itseyewear.com. Please return the item unused and in its original condition; we refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving it back. You cover return postage for change-of-mind returns.
Prescription lenses, and any frame that has been glazed with prescription lenses to your specification, are made to your specification and are exempt from this 14-day change-of-mind right once glazing has begun. This is a statutory exemption under regulation 28(1)(b) of the 2013 Regulations. Your statutory rights for faulty, misdescribed or defective goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected — see section 6.
Bespoke and made-to-measure frames are also exempt from the 14-day change-of-mind right; see our Bespoke Commissions Terms.
5. Prescription accuracy and safety
You are responsible for supplying a current, valid prescription and accurate pupillary distance. Our lab checks each order for optical plausibility (for example, prism, base curve compatibility, extreme values) but does not perform a sight test and does not verify clinical correctness. Where an order looks unsafe or unclear we may contact you, ask for a copy of your prescription, decline the order and refund it, or recommend that you see a registered optometrist first.
Nothing on the site is medical advice. Please keep your eye tests up to date with a registered optometrist.
6. Faulty or misdescribed goods
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to every order. If an item is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality — including a glazed lens made incorrectly against your confirmed order — you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Contact us at start@itseyewear.com and we will cover return postage for faulty items.
7. AI-assisted tools — guidance only, not medical advice
The site includes tools that give guidance based on the information you supply and standard optical calculations: a customer-service chat, a dispensing assistant, a prescription scanner that reads values from a photo of your prescription, a camera-based pupillary distance tool, and a lens thickness estimator.
These tools are guidance, not medical advice, not a sight test, and not a substitute for a qualified eye examination. Every lens order is reviewed by our London lab before glazing begins. Thickness figures are estimates (accurate to roughly ±0.3 mm at the edge). Self-measured PDs are verified by the lab, and professional measurement is recommended for varifocals and stronger prescriptions.
Values extracted by the prescription scanner are always shown for you to confirm before the order proceeds. See our Privacy Policy for how prescription images and measurements are handled.
8. Using the website and your account
You may use the site lawfully and responsibly. You must not misuse it, attempt to access restricted areas, upload unlawful content, submit false information, copy protected content without permission, or interfere with how the site works.
You are responsible for activity under any account you create with us. Keep your login details secure.
9. Intellectual property
Website content, branding, designs and photography belong to Eyewear Ltd or to the makers who present frames on our marketplace, and may not be copied or reused without permission.
10. Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under law. Otherwise our liability for any order is limited to the value of that order, and we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss.
11. Changes, law and how to contact us
We may update these terms; the version published when you place an order applies to that order. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Questions about these terms: start@itseyewear.com or via the Contact page.
